Alternative Weekends allows those familiar with Alternative Breaks and those new to the program to explore active citizenship—people who value the community as a priority when making decisions in their daily lives. The trips focus on the education of issues regionally and making a change through positive decisions and direct service in the community. We do this through providing 1 or 2 weekend service trips per semester.
Weekend trips are within a 6-hour radius of campus, usually leaving Friday afternoon and returning Sunday afternoon. Approximately 10 to 15 students can participate and the cost is typically $45.
There are several leadership opportunities within Alternative Weekends that are open to any student. All students are invited to participate in a weekend trip regardless of past experience on an Alternative Break.
Upcoming Trips
Join AB Weekends on October 10 as we work together to clean up Constitution Trail! Get to know some of our Alternative Breaks leaders and serve the Bloomington-Normal community. This is a free event, and lunch will be provided.
