Alternative Summer Break (ASuB) is a 2.5-week service trip in which participants travel to Kenya to support Living Positive Kenya, a local organization in Ngong Hills.
This trip focuses on several social issues like education, health, and HIV/AIDs. Learn to become a citizen of the world through strong direct service and reflection, and connect with other students who are looking to make a difference.
Students who are selected to serve on the trip participate in pre-trip meetings throughout academic year to help educate themselves on the language and culture of the community they will be serving.
This is a popular experience with limited space. Students can only participate once as a participant and possibly once as a trip leader. First priority will be given to students who have previously attended another Alternative Breaks trip.
Information on the 2023 trip will be available in the fall, with applications opening in October.
Participants must be vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to departure in order to attend. For more information about current travel to Kenya, please visit the U.S. Embassy in Kenya website.
