  Action Research is an international, interdisciplinary, peer reviewed, quarterly published refereed journal which is a forum for the development of the theory and practice of action research. The journal publishes quality articles on accounts of action research projects, explorations in the philosophy and methodology of action research, and considerations of the nature of quality in action research practice. This journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

• Change: The Magazine of Higher Learning

  Change is a magazine dealing with contemporary issues in higher learning. It is intended to stimulate and inform reflective practitioners in colleges, universities, corporations, government, and elsewhere. Using a magazine format rather than that of an academic journal, Change spotlights trends, provides new insights and ideas, and analyzes the implications of educational programs, policies, and practices. Over the past few years it has included articles on trend-setting institutions and individuals, the latest thinking on teaching and learning, technology, the curriculum, the financing and management of higher education, for-profit and entrepreneurial higher education, faculty, the changing needs and nature of students, the undergraduate experience, administrative practice and governance, public policy, accountability, and the social role of higher education. Change is sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, the Teagle Foundation, and the Kresge Foundation, with support from the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

• International Journal for Service Learning in Engineering

  Pennsylvania State University

  The Journal welcomes manuscripts based on the original work of the authors with a specific focus on projects, programs, research and pedagogy that involve service learning in engineering, humanitarian engineering, and social entrepreneurship. A primary purpose of the Journal is to foster inquiry into rigorous engineering design and research and direct those efforts toward solving problems of marginalized communities - along with entrepreneurial application if appropriate. The examination of cultural appropriateness is emphasized along with the application of appropriate technologies and entrepreneurial application of sustainable solutions. Focus is also placed on associated pedagogy and the dissemination of project results as the Journal seeks to nurture service learning in engineering as a distinct body of knowledge.

  A peer-reviewed online journal dedicated to disseminating of high quality research focused on service-learning, campus-community engagement, and the promotion of active and effective citizenship through education. The journal is international in scope, with an interest in service-learning and community engagement both in the US and around the world. The Journal also aims to be comprehensive in its approach, with an interest in articles on service-learning and community engagement in a variety of settings, including K-12 education, higher education (undergraduate and graduate) and community-based programs.

• International Journal of Research on Service-Learning in Teacher Education

  Duke University and American Educational Research Association

  The International Journal of Research on Service-Learning in Teacher Education (IJRSLTE) is co-sponsored by the International Center for Service-Learning in Teacher Education which is housed at Duke University and the SIG-Service-Learning & Experiential Education of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). As an international journal, the articles provide a forum for exchanging insights throughout the world. The journal publishes manuscripts that advance scholarship on service-learning in teacher education through descriptions of empirical research, synthesis of research, analysis of policy, or discussion of theoretical positions. Although articles do not focus solely on description of a program, practitioner research is featured. The journal also publishes book reviews.

There is a focus on case studies emphasizing community engagement and engaged learning practices, methodology, and pedagogy. The journal aims to establish and maintain a review of the literature of research and practice. It also provides a forum for dialogue on the methodological and epistemological issues, enabling different approaches to be subjected to critical reflection and analysis.

  The Journal of STEM Outreach was created to offer a journal for researchers who develop and implement programs that connect formal and informal educators with practicing STEM professionals. The JSO offers a mechanism to disseminate descriptions of programs that might be of value to other researchers; research studies that support the replication of education or partnership models; and case studies that exemplify a specific replicable aspect of a program.   Peer-reviewed journal by the New City Community Press & Syracuse University Press, Reflections provides a forum for scholarship on writing, service learning, and community literacy, bringing together an array of voices to reflect upon the theoretical, ethical, and political implications of community-based writing and civic engagement.

• Science Education and Civic Engagement: An International Journal

  National Center for Science and Civic Engagement

  The mission of this journal is to explore constructive connections between science education and civic engagement that will enhance both experiences for our students. In the 21st century, mathematical and scientific reasoning is an essential element for full participation in a democratic society. Contributions to this journal will focus on using unsolved, complex civic issues as a framework to develop students’ understanding of the role of scientific knowledge in personal and public decision making, along with examining how such knowledge is embedded in a broader social and political context. Since many pressing issues are not constrained by national borders, we encourage perspectives that are international or global in scope. In addition to examining what students learn, we will also explore how this learning takes place and how it can be evaluated, documented, and strengthened. By exploring civic questions as unsolved challenges, we seek to empower students as engaged participants in their learning on campus and as citizens in their communities.
